We Shall Not Be Moved: The Essential Practices of
Nonviolent Resistance

Join us for the 15th Annual Kenilworth Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., taking place on Sunday, January 19th, at the Kenilworth Center at 4 Chiles Ave., Asheville, NC 28803 (located behind Kenilworth Presbyterian Church) from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

This year’s event is a 2-hour workshop on the Practices of Kingian Nonviolence. Kingian Nonviolence is a philosophy of nonviolent conflict reconciliation in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the organizing strategies of the Civil Rights Movement.

Come and learn about the transformative power of nonviolence as a way to address community issues and build a just and peaceful world.

The workshop will be facilitated by Valerie Helbert, a program coordinator at the Center for Reconciliation (CFR) at Duke University’s Divinity School and a Level One Certified Kingian Nonviolence trainer.

The event will be hosted by Marvin Chambers, a founding member of A.S.C.O.R.E. (Asheville Student Committee on Racial Equality) and an icon of the Sit-In protests in North Carolina.

DJ Profe$$ah G will be spinning great tunes. Come out for food, fellowship, and empowerment as we move forward together!

The workshop is free, but we ask that you RSVP so that we have enough food and printed materials. For more information and to RSVP, contact Katie Adams at 828-273-3747 or mountainstomoveavl@gmail.com.

We are rooted in the stories of the Bible and believe worship can be expressed in everything we do. Our philosophy is founded on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Called by God to welcome all people into the Christian Community, we strive to exhibit God's unconditional love and hospitality to everyone, including all people without regard to race, age, sexual orientation, physical and mental ability, education, or economic class. No matter who you are, there is a special place for you at our church! We share our gifts of time, talent, and treasure to serve God in our community and the world.

Worship With Us Each Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

Prayer and worship form the basis of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church. In addition to a regular Sunday service, we offer time for prayer, personal reflection, guided Bible study, fellowship, and various other events. Contact us or pay us a visit for more information.

Children's Service:  As a part of our Sunday service, children are asked to come forward and sit for a brief lesson from a staff member, after which they have the opportunity to go to another area for additional activities until the worship time is concluded.
