This fall, we will spend eight Sundays exploring Jesus’ Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1–12. These familiar words are more than comforting promises; they are a radical announcement of the kingdom of God and an invitation to see our lives and our world through the eyes of Jesus. Jesus calls happy those who are poor in spirit, who mourn, who are humble, who hunger for righteousness, who show mercy, who seek God with undivided hearts, who make peace, and who remain faithful in the face of hardship. The Beatitudes remind us that God’s blessing is not measured by success, power, or comfort, but by God’s gracious presence and the transforming life of the kingdom. Together, we will consider what it means to receive God’s grace, embody Christ’s compassion, pursue justice and peace, and live as people of God’s kingdom in the world today.
